Panguitch
The campground
Panguitch KOA is a small, quiet campground, with plenty of shade, a swimming pool, a grass area for relaxing or games, and close enough to town to forget the car and walk to one of the many restaurants. Bike rentals are also being offered. Although surrounded by mountains, the area around Panguitch is rather flat, so you don’t have to be a Tour de France competitor to get around.
The surrounding area
Downtown Panguitch shows the historic side of this quaint little town. Red brick houses, little shops and an all American feel. Just outside town – allegedly – stands the house where the infamous Butch Cassidy was born. We rang the bell, but his parents weren’t home.
Panguitch Lake is open for fishing and other recreational activities. The drive along scenic highways 143 and 148 towards Cedar Breaks NM is gorgeous. The park offers astounding views of red rock and green vegetation. Make sure to bring your camera.
And as icing on the cake there are two incredible National Parks only a short drive away: Bryce and Zion. Bryce Canyon is known for its indescribable views, Zion for the gorgeous hikes.
